THE ROLE
As a Senior Data Engineer at Kempower, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the ever-evolving EV market. On a typical day, you'll develop scalable and cost-effective data solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams and make a direct impact on our mission to revolutionize transportation.
ROLE SPECIFICS:
Future-proofing our existing data platform for internal and external stakeholders
Creating production grade data solutions in co-operation with the internal stakeholders
Improving existing data models to build scalable and cost-effective data solutions
Building new and optimizing existing data pipelines
Planning and collaborating with external and internal stakeholders.
Taking ownership of ChargEye’s data landscape
Overseeing data quality and governance
Taking a leading role in designing new data engineering processes and its implementations
Mentoring and supporting the more junior colleagues in the team
Key Technologies
AWS, including services like Kinesis, S3, Lambda and DynamoDB
TimescaleDB for time series data storage
ElasticSearch, serving as the analytical application backend
Databricks with PySpark and SQL for large-scale analytics
Terraform for maintaining infrastructure
At Kempower, we work in a hybrid model. The whole Cloud software & data team meets in Lahti approximately once a month but would encourage the selected candidate to visit the office and meet the team members more often. We also have offices in Tampere, Helsinki and Vaasa.

WHAT HELPS YOU TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
Solid understanding and hands-on experience working with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
Prior experience with big data technologies and distributed computing (such as Apache Spark, EMR, Databricks, etc)
Good grasp of SQL and database technologies in general – we use TimescaleDB as one of our operational databases for ChargEye and Databricks as our main analytical platform
Some experience with CI/CD pipelines and a good overall understanding of basic software development practices (version control, documentation, code reviews, etc.)
Understanding of IaC and preferably some prior experience – we use Terraform but experience with other tools counts as well
Familiarity with GenAI technologies, large language models or AI-driven analytics in production data pipelines
Track record of continuous learning and curiosity
Skills that make you stand out:
Prior experience with streaming analytics (Flink, Structured streaming in Spark, etc)
Experience with data modelling in IoT context
Familiarity with GenAI technologies, large language models or AI-driven analytics in production data pipelines
