ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, you will:
Safety Management:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental health and safety regulations, standards, and company policies.
- Lead Kempower’s Safety Committee.
Risk Assessment:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures to protect employees, customers, and the environment.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including procedures for accidents, spills, and other incidents.
Incident Investigation:
- Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to employees at all levels, ensuring they are knowledgeable about safety policies, procedures, and equipment.
Compliance:
- In partnership with Global Compliance, Sustainability, and Occupational Health and Safety leads, monitor and ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, including permitting, reporting, and waste management.
Sustainability:
- Promote sustainable practices within the organization, such as energy efficiency and waste reduction to meet global sustainability initiatives.
Data Management:
- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training to support compliance and reporting requirements.
WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU?
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science or other related technical degree, or equivalent work experience
- 3 years of EHS experience in an industrial production environment
- Robust knowledge of industry standards and processes
- Proficient in MS Office Suite
Additional Skills (preferred):
- Experience in a Start Up Environment
- Implementation of EHS systems in manufacturing
- Experience with ISO 14001
- Experience with ISO 45001
- OSHA 30 Trained
- Certified Safety Management
- ISO certified auditor
