ABOUT THE ROLE
The Global Production Engineer Manager’s main duties will be to
- Contribute and assist in developing the strategic plan for all operational activity, development and implementation.
- Monitor and control all phases of production improvement projects, including reviewing change orders, monitoring project costs and schedules to ensure conformance with established budgets and project timelines, and providing project performance reports.
- Create and maintain production concepts to support continuous flow.
- Be responsible for the planning, management and coordination of production development and optimization in assembly and testing in close collaboration with RDI.
- Be responsible for product transfer and production development and testing capabilities in-house and with suppliers (technologies and machinery) projects and continuous process improvement.
The position will also include working with the following areas:
- Production and Testing Process: Ensures that the production and testing process aligns and approves the design, both for internal or external developed processes, and performs the final test in accordance with the product testing plan.
- Production costs: Defines production costs and sequence of the working and testing phases of a new production and testing processes to minimize cost and maximize quality.
- Project control: Monitor and control all phases of production improvement projects, including reviewing change orders, monitoring project costs and schedules to ensure conformance with established budgets and project timelines, and providing project performance reports.
- Budgeting: Develops and proposes the estimated budget of investments necessary for the development of the new products and processes.
- Suppliers: Supports the Sourcing and Supplier Quality in selecting suppliers, evaluating the technology and capacity, and determining the best option.
- Optimization and standardization: Cooperates with RDI or internal teams in the optimization of technical standards and supports in the definition of configuration of new design rules (DFA). Evaluates and proposes new process technologies to increase automation and to improve productivity, quality and cost.
- QHSE: Reinforces and maintains a culture of health & safety and quality
- People leadership and development: Ensures that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct and indirect subordinates
At Kempower we work hybrid. This role is based in Lahti and requires weekly presence in our facilities. During the first month, onboarding will be onsite in Lahti.
Some travelling (estimated 30 days a year) e.g. to our Durham location, is required.

WHAT HELPS YOU SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in technology or equivalent
- 3+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
- 5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a global environment, and the ability to identify process improvements
- Understanding and experience from power electronics is seen as an advantage
- Proven track record of delivering results in projects
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style
- Strong organizational and planning abilities, independent approach and superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Drive and willingness to develop both your own and the teams’ work
As our official company language is English, proficiency in spoken and written English is required. Additionally, knowledge of Finnish is considered an advantage.
